Socialists believe in “sharing the wealth” or as Barack Obama said, “When you spread the wealth around, it’s good for everybody.” But something is only shared if it is voluntarily given. When socialists say “share”, they do not mean “sharing” their own wealth. They mean taxing someone else’s wealth (forcing them to “share” even more) and giving it to other people. That might be good for those who get something for nothing, but it isn’t good for those who get even more taken away from them.

1) To be truly evil, someone must have sought to do harm by planning to commit some morally wrong action with no prompting from others.
2) The evil person must have tried to carry out this plan with the hope of causing considerable harm to others.
3) Finally, if this evil person were willing to analyze his or her reasons for wanting to commit this morally wrong action, these reasons would either prove to be incoherent, or they would reveal that the evil person knew he or she was doing something wrong and regarded the harm caused as a good thing.

What Marx and other socialists envisage is the elimination of all profits. However, machines wear out and must be replaced. If tools aren’t replaced, there will be no more work. If you can convey the idea of paying for the “use of tools” the socialist is defeated. The man who owns the tools will not permit others to use them unless he is paid. If you will not pay for the use of the tools, you are not entitled to use them. Profit is the payment to the owner of the tool for its use. Tools can be owned by individuals, partnerships, or corporations. A payment for that use is both essential and honest.

Perhaps the greatest scandal of the mortgage crisis was the intentional loosening of underwriting standards - done in the name of ending discrimination, despite warnings that it could lead to wide-scale defaults. Minority mortgage applications were rejected more frequently than other applications - but the overwhelming reason wasn’t racial discrimination, but simply that minorities tend to have weaker finances. It was the regulators who relaxed these standards - at the behest of community groups and “progressive” political forces.

Quebec’s tuition protesters are the Greeks of Canada. They are the children of affluence – overwhelmingly middle to upper-middle class.
